I wish to be able to extract data from the Racing Post Betting website [login to view URL] I want to extract all of the race cards for all of the UK courses into one Excel spreadsheet on a daily basis. When run, tThe program should be able to search the race cards section of the Racing Post the evening before the next day’s racing and download the following information automatically. (1) The details of each race should be given in the spreadsheet before the runners in each race. The only race details that I require are the location of the race and its time, but if it is easier then all of the race details provided for each race by The Racing Post can simply be scraped as a block. (2) Following the race details I require the following information for each race in this format: a. In column A, the horse’s name (this will need to be stripped of the number and symbols that may follow its name in the Racing Post). b. In column B, the betting forecast in the Racing Post must be transformed into a digital number (the Racing Post uses the British way of listing odds, so a horse called Cupid’s Glory has a betting forecast listed as ‘4/1’: in the spreadsheet that needs to be listed as the number ‘5’. If a horse is ‘5/2’ in the betting forecast then this would be changed to the digital odds of ‘3.5’. ‘9/4’ would be ‘3.25’. ‘100/30’ would be ‘4.33’ etc.) This is very important, but easy: ex. 4/1 – add 4 and 1 and divide by the 1; ex. 9/4 – add the 9 and 4 and divided by the 4. I only require two decimal places. c. In columns C to L, the odds from the relevant bookmakers converted to decimal as above. d. In column M, the average of columns C to L e. In column N, the difference between column B and column M The Racing Post website requires a login to access information. I require the solution to be in visual basic and all code to be provided. It must run on XP or Vista without any additional software being installed. A demo of similar work will be required. I will require a working demonstration prior to payment - you may add some code that will only enable it to run twice to allow me to test it.
