Background: Restaurant POS project is to be developed in the way to suit demands of catering/restaurant business, by providing simple, innovative and cost effective solution. To match these demands Restaurant POS system should be developed by using Open Source technologies and with minimal hardware requirements which will not affect the performance of whole system. During the development stage of the Restaurant POS system, hardware which will be required or recommended to run the complete and operational POS should be from famous brands and easily found in the market where the POS system is intended to be distributed. Audience(Customers) of POS system: the system will be proposed to customers who are operating in catering business with one or many restaurant shops. POS system should be designed in the manner that it will not be requiring more than 1 hour of training to the new POS operators and not more than 3 hours of training to the Administrators/Supervisors users who will be responsible to maintain data entry and daily reports. Thus designing simple and intuitive GUI is essential to meet this criteria. Phases of development: Future development Phases are highlighted with colours within text.
