We have a solution written in Powershell 2.0 which will automatically install SQL Server 2008 R2 (Enterprise or Developer edition) standalone. The code is 95% complete however it requires some finishing touches which we would like someone to do asap. The application is small and only consists of x1 batch file, x6 Powershell files, x1 XML file and x1 ini file. How it should work: The XML file contains the installation type/settings which the Powershell scripts refer to and then generates the INI file. The batch file calls the SQL Server 2008 R2 standard [login to view URL] and points this at the INI file where it gets all the setup information. What we require: 1. We have decided that the process will be deployed to the local machine on which the SQL Server 2008 R2 installation will take place, therefore all references to network paths/UNC's need to be removed and replaced with local paths. Please feel free to change this to whatever local path you want to get things working, just let us know how to change this. 2. We have now decided to have seperate automated build processes for the SQL Server Engine/SSAS/SSRS/SSIS, therefore you will need to remove all coding references to SSAS/SSRS/SSIS. 3. We will only be using this automated build process for SQL Server 2008 R2, therefore you will need to remove all coding references to any other versions of SQL Server (2005/2008) 4. We started coding a "progress" module in the code which would keep a track of where the installation process was up to. Then, in the event of a failure when we restart the process the code would know where it was up to and just carry on, rather than starting from scratch again. For example, if the process failed during the installation of the service packs we don't want to have to reinstall SQL Server 2008 R2 again. This needs coding into the Powershell. 5. Remove any other unnecessary code you see. In your quotes can you please confirm the following: 1. A total price for all the work. 2. A gauranteed completion date (we do need this ASAP, so quotes with quicker turnaround times will be favoured) 3. That you will use Powershell 2.0 to complete the final code changes/additions. Once this work is complete we will be looking to do the same for a SQL Server 2008 R2 cluster installation and also for the additional SQL Server components - SSRS/SSAS/SSIS so there is quite a bit of work here for the right person, but we want to get the standalone automated build working first before we move onto the other bits so your quote should only be for that. We are a SQL Server consultancy business so we can deal with anything SQL Server related on this project, it's a Powershell expert we require to complete/tweak what has already been put together. Many thanks.
