**VB6 to C#.NET and VB.NET Conversion Require Access DB only ** (see Project Summary) Our shop is moving to .NET and is using the book: _The .NET Languages: A quick Translation Guide_ Brian Bischof ISBN 1-893115-48-8 We require an Access DB (just the DB and data) so that we can look up VB6 keywords to find the .NET equivalents with simple examples. We will supply an empty Access2000 DB with the tables and fields to get you started. The DB layout will be similar to the book layout. For example: >table Category, fields: Category_ID, Category (18 entries corresponding to the book chapters), note >table SubCategory, fields: SubCategory_ID, SubCategory (entries corresponding to the book chapter sections), note >table VB6, fields: VB6_ID, SubCategory_ID, keyword, example, note >table CSNET, fields: CSNET_ID, SubCategory_ID, keyword, example, note >table VBNET, fields: VBNET_ID, SubCategory_ID, keyword, example, note Since the DB must be normalized and relational as well, the following tables would also be required: >table VBtoCSNET, fields: VB6_ID, CSNET_ID >table VBtoVBNET, fields: VB6_ID, VBNET_ID This will allow for multiple relations (e.g. VB6 'InStr' = .NET 'IndexOf' and 'StartsWith' and 'EndsWith') The Category and SubCategory tables will hold text similar to the overview text found at the beginning of each chapter and section. These tables require no additional work by you. The 'note' fields in the other tables can contain any special info about using the specific methods. An experienced .NET person in charge of this project is welcome to add their notes based on their personal coding experiences. The examples should run successfully on their own whenever possible (i.e. include any declares, etc.). Exceptions would be where an example would take more than a few lines of code. In this case, a note explaining the usage would be included. Where applicable text should be in proper case (e.g. not all UCase), and spelled correctly and code samples should use the default control names (e.g. 'Text1' or 'TextBox1') and be indented with 2 spaces. - ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional Access2K database. 2) Exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement). 3) We will offer a bonus for timely completion, creativity and completeness. -Completeness means that a substantial number of keywords in the book are included in the DB. -Creativity refers to the programmer including keyword notes based on their experience. For example, our experience has led us to find out that the DataLinks dialog (MSDADC) is unavailable in ADO.NET. -Creativity also means adding a "RichText" field to each of the 3 keyword tables. The RT fields would also contain the example but be formatted so that the font and colors match the VS IDE format (e.g. keywords in blue). -Timely means that the project is delivered on or before the deadline we will agree on (proposed by you). **Project Summary: ** -Empty DB already has tables and fields but can be modified by you if needed. -The project is to enter VB6 keywords (e.g. "Instr") and the equivalent NET keywords into their respective tables. -Each keyword will have a short example for each language. -Each keyword **might** have a short note of explanation if needed. The note may be special considerations for the function or comments you add based on your experience. -The book (mentioned above) should be your guide. The book code is available on line. Although you could quickly cut-n-paste the entire project, we recommend you observe any copyright laws. -The Category and SubCategory tables will hold text similar to the overview text found at the beginning of each chapter and section. These tables will be completed by AppDC and require no additional work by you. -The keyword tables will be related by keyword ID's -The VB6 keyword table has a related SubCategoryID as well. -You should send us the DB after you have entered a few items so that we can verify that you understand what we are asking for. ## Platform We supply empty Access2K DB with tables and fields to get you started. The DB will have a few entries to serve as a guide for your work.
