Custimization of Magento Extension "Part Finder"

We currently have the Magento extension "Part Finder"([login to view URL]) installed and working properly in our Magento multi-store website. The extensions works as it was developed but is lacking one important feature that we need. Please read the following very carefully to understand what is needed: The year of make is a combination for multiple models. When a search is done on the front-end, it shows the product even though the product only belongs to some particular years which we choose in dashboard. We need to decouple the year and model in the internal data structure, and implement a user interface change. so admin can select model, then the year of make, model individually. (need to be able to select year and make but apply the years specifically to each model individually so when front-end search is perform it doesn't show wrong matches of models/years) 1.
