Create basic Facebook app snippet

I'm working on a facebook app (web based). I'm totally dummy in Facebook SDK. The app is a simple game for marketing purpose. User plays it, and then he will takes part on a lot and wins something. So I need to collect some personal data from user, to be able to contact her/him with the prize. Plus clicking on "recommend to friends" button, the app would post a recommendation on timeline. I'm ready with the "game" part. What is missing is the Facebook part: - setting up SDK (php or java or whatever) server side - setting up app and app page on Facebook developer site Is it possible to set it up on my developer site and my webserver? (I can provide my access data.) As I would like to use the same "framework" for further apps later. I have cPanel access for my webserver. Thanks in advance.
