#SHAB – Second Hand Academic Books
Hello, my name is Hani Lim.
My team, we are graduate students at University of Neuchâtel.
Our story sounds like cliché but reality. Every semester we are facing with the situation that we would spend at least 500 CHF for academic books. Most of students take 4~6 lectures per semester. And each lecture recommends at least one compulsory book which costs approximately between 100 and 120 CHF. It is just simple calculation we would spend at least 100 * 4 = 400 CHF for one semester, which is approximately the same amount as the tuition fee.
Here we hit on a new idea that “Why don’t we try to sell, buy and swap each other’s book?”
It because we do not have a platform which can connect all students enables to make a trade. In attempt to lessen students’ financial burdens, we came up with this idea #SHAB.
Our idea is simple.
We create the website. All students can sign in with as little information possible. Currently we are facing one obstacle that we need IT person who can help us to develop “#SHAB Website”
Although our budget is tight CHF 200, if anyone is interested in our project please contact us!

Nous sommes une équipe d'étudiants de l'Université de Neuchâtel.
Notre histoire semble un peu cliché, mais c'est la réalité. Chaque semestre, nous sommes confrontés à la situation que nous dépensons au moins 500 CHF pour des livres universitaires. La plupart des élèves prennent 4 ~ 6 cours par semestre. Et chaque lecture recommande au moins un livre obligatoire qui coûte entre 100 et 120 CHF. Donc, nous dépensons au moins 100 * 4 = 400 CHF chaque semestre, ce qui est approximativement le même montant que les frais universitaires.
Suite à ce constat, une idée assez simple nous est venu «Pourquoi ne pas essayer de vendre, acheter et échanger nos livres avec les autres étudiants?"
L'idée est de créer une plateforme ou tous les élèves peuvent se connecter, leur permettant ainsi de réduire les charges financières inhérentes aux études, permettant un accès à une éducation supérieure de qualité à encore plus de monde.
Voici comment nous sommes arrivés avec cette idée #SHAB (Second Hand Book).
Notre idée est simple.
Le but est que tous les étudiants peuvent se connecter le plus simplement possible. Actuellement, nous sommes confrontés à un obstacle. Nous sommes à le recherche d'une personne avec des compétences informatiques qui peut nous aider à développer le site internet qui hébergera "#SHAB "
