I require a structural engineer to carry out calculations for a series of concrete slabs. The slabs will serve as the foundation for steel cantilever storage racking. I need the following questions answered: 1. What thickness of slab will be sufficient to carry the loading detailed? 2. Are there any issues/concerns with the slab bases matching the width of the cantilever bases? 3. Is rebar reinforcement necessary, if so, detail that reinforcement. 4. Where should we locate our cast-in-place lift points? 5. Are there any issues or concerns with the proposed design detailed? Specifics include: • Five slab sections approximately 9'4-1/4"L x 10'W x 6"-8" thick. • Each section will have two cantilever sections sitting on top of it. • Design specifications for the steel cantilever storage racking and the estimated loading will be provided. • Underneath the sections there will be compacted stone/gravel • Insomuch as possible I want to match the width of each slab section to the width of the cantilever bases (9'4-1/4"). • We want these sections to be able to be moved in the future, so we will be casting in place bent rebar or similar for lift points. Lifting will only occur after cantilever racking is removed from slab bases. • Slab sections will be built with the bottom of the slab sections flush with the top of grade. • Anchorage of cantilever bases to slabs will be post-installed epoxy adhesive anchors or expansion anchors. • Estimated loading and details are available on the attached drawings. Ideal freelancer should have: • Advanced knowledge in structural engineering principles particularly on load calculation and distribution of forces on slab. • Experience in designing and calculating concrete foundations. • Proficiency in using engineering software for calculations.
