Management Information Systems Capstone Project The capstone project for this class is a research paper and power point presentation on a researched Management Information System of a local company. Management information system aids the functioning and monitoring of an organization. It also describes the components and resources to ensure the proper functioning of an organization. This capstone project focuses on a real-life information system that students research. Students are expected to research organizations and industry associations affiliated with these types of companies and industries to get the information they will need. Many different types of Information Systems are studied during the course such as Decision Support Systems, Transaction Support Systems, Data Base Systems, ERP, CRM, SRM, WMS etc… You need to pick a particular application that falls into one of these categories. The general idea is that you explore and research a Management Information System and determine its impact on a particular company or industry incorporating the chosen MIS. Look for an MIS that integrates business processes with technology for competitive advantage. Identify the benefit a company should receive using this tool. Look locally for a company- could be a manufacturing company, a distributor, a service company…no delis, or restaurants, no POS systems. (The company I've chosen is Home Depot.
