Basically need someone to optimize server so it doesn't overload and suggest tips to improve performance. It's a dedicated linux server running some MySQL scripts. The cpu is currently maxed out. Check to see why the load is high and take steps to lower the load.

We are using a flash virtual tour player developed by a 3rd party. We are using a combination of swfobject 1-5 and custom javascript to insert the virtual tour scenes into the player. The scenes are around 600KB each. If you open a single tour, and click on the links (javascript based) to open the tour scenes approximately 25 to 30 times you get an error that flash has insufficiant memory. I have tried several ways to flush the memory using javascript and nothing has worked. Through further testing, I found that this does NOT happen in flashplayer 9 for Mozilla (FireFox and Opera). We have a requirement to display a large map of a certain region. Because of the large size, the map should have a separate preview pane with a draggable selection area which will be enlarged in the large map window - pretty much like this one - and users should not be able to go beyond the map limits. Please refer to the attachment for a graphical mock up. Compatibility - The solution must work in all major browsers - IE 5+, Firefox 1+ & Opera 7+ on PC, Safari, Camino & Firefox on Mac (we will be able to assist with testing on Mac if required). There will be about 100-200 locations on the map at a time - this should not overload the browser. The preview pane will display all locations represented by dots which are not clickable.
