Mechanical Design Engineer

Hello! I work as a Mechanical Design Engineer for a medical device manufacturing, sealing and packaging company in Sydney, Australia. I have found myself with an excess of time and energy in the evenings and on weekends so I decided to start a freelancer profile. My primary duties at my day job include using Solidworks and solving everyone else's problems (: I'm very familiar with and often perform the following tasks: →Creating parts from drawings. →Creating parts from scratch. →Creating sheet metal parts. →Combining parts into assemblies. →Engineering drawings for manufacturing. →Exporting as STEP files and STL for 3D printing, CNC machining or other. →Creating DXF drawings for laser/water jet cutting, folding or other.

I designed an aluminium extrusion framework to go above an Illig Thermoformer and then designed over 30 stainless steel panels to cover the framework. There are 10 internal panels that form a big rectangle over the machine parts, and the rest of the panels go around the outside to ensure our machine is up to standard for the industrial clean-room when we begin operation of the machine.

Most panels were unique and had different sizes, support flanges, holes, slots and mounting mechanisms. Installing was fun as there was only enough space on top of the machine to squat or crawl! (crawl space selfie attached!)

My rollstocks trolley is used to carry 320 kg rollstocks up to 800mm in diameter. Designed in Solidworks for operation inside a clean-room environment, it had to be absolutely perfectly designed and constructed for it to get approved for use.
