Formatting XML data for printing

Hi, I am a top notch XSLT expert (XML transformations) I am a full time professional freelancer. I have a lot of experience with transforming XML into MicroSoft Word and back again. What works most for me is using the Word XML 2003 format, that is a single XML file. If we name it with the .doc extension, Word won't even notice it is I have a lot of experience with how quirky Word sometimes handles sections, lists and tables in building up the internal object model, and I know what to do to get around that. The bid is a first guess. I don't know how complex the required Word document is, so some examples would help Cheers Geert

Hi, Would you create the style sheet, or would you like us the freelancer to do this? Anyway, I have an alternate solution than using word - one which would be much faster to implement. As I understand your requirements, the end goal here is to just print the data you receive in a nice human-readable (styled) way. Since you only want to print the document in a nice formatted way, then it doesn't really matter if you are using word, or some other "agent" to display the data - at the end of the day, you want the data printed on paper. So my suggestion is to not use word at all - but to convert the XML document into a html document, and apply a style sheet to the HTML. HTML and CSS are incredibly flexible (it forms the basis for the entire world wide web) and incredibly easy to manipulate programatically. Anyway, I'd be able to do this with your XML document very quickly (an hour, maybe two hours tops). Just send me a message if you have any questions. Thanks a lot, John

Just one comment: you wrote that you would like to have XML converted into word document - I suppose you mean docx file format. I would suggest to convert XML to RTF file - it supports the same level of formatting options, can be opened/printed by Microsoft Word - but RTF file format is easier and better documented.
