Intuit (makers of QuickBooks) discourage importing data using IIF. It skips all data validity checks and can corrupt your company data. I have recently developed custom QuickBooks integration programs for multiple companies in the USA. One program was to import multi-line invoices into QuickBooks on a daily basis. The data is read from a CSV (spreadsheet) file. Another program was to import Products and inventory adjustments into QuickBooks. I specialize in Integration of data to and from QuickBooks. As I see from your requirement, I have already done this kind of work. Best way is to build a small tool/application that validates IIF file headers with QB. Also we can validate the the Customer/Vendor, Items, Job, Payroll items etc, against the QB and then if the validation fails, insert a header tag against each record in IIF which fails the validation. this way you can track down and fix the errors manually or programatically.
