Within the New York City Department of Education, I have served in a number of different capacities that have allowed me to build a unique perspective and a refined set of data, policy, writing, strategic, pedagogic, technologic, and computer programming skills that have resulted in positive impacts throughout the New York City public schools.
I have developed citywide Power BI systems as well as data and compliance resources used by all 1700 schools in New York City using MS SQL, VBA, Python, and Power BI (DAX). The tools and resources have been widely recognized as innovative and highly impactful, which I have presented at many conferences in New York State and at one of the largest national organizations for educators of MLLs: National Association for Bilingual Education (NABE). The resources and dashboards pull highly complex data from an enormous data warehouse managed by the New York City Department of Education and present them via useful and easy-to-read data visualizations that allow educators to make informed decisions.
I developed unique data analytic tools, such as the ELL Data Analysis Tool (EDAT), which analyzes a number of useful, research-based data points for each student, such as the following: chronic absenteeism, overage/under-credited status, holdover status, performance on New York State exams, and many more factors for full customizability. This resources has been used by thousands of NYC DOE employees.
