Windows Audio Enhancements Bypass for EdWare

EdWare is Windows based software used to program the Edison robot. [login to view URL] The user downloads programs created in EdWare to the robot via the headphone jack. When a program is written in EdWare it is compiled into a WAV file that contains the data stream to be downloaded to the robot. The WAV file is then played through the headphone jack, received by the robot and interpreted back into program data. The WAV file uses square waves (pulses) with varying distances that represent ones and zeros. The problem is that audio enhancements within Windows cause the square waves to be distorted. This distortion makes the data un-readable by the robot. If sound enhancements are disabled (via control panel) the audio is no longer distorted and the robot can receive the download. The resulting software from this project will allow EdWare to bypass Windows audio enhancements and other software enhancements such as ‘SRS Premium Sound’ and ‘Dell Audio’ saving the user from having to make changes to any settings within their computer. Freelancers with demonstrated experience with Windows audio porting, sound drivers and codecs will be highly regarded as additional work in this area will soon be required.
