Write WordPress Plugin for Curriculum Guide

Overview The Ancona School Curriculum Guide will give users a snapshot of what each subject looks like at each level. There are 10 subjects (What we Teach) and various levels (Who We Teach), and each will have an “overview” page if it is the first thing clicked. Each page will start with a max ~300 characters “teaser”, with a “learn more” button that shows more in-depth info. A list of “How we Teach” buttons be displayed for each page, and will display in a way that allows the user to easily return to the page content. “How we teach” will be the same for all pages, but should be adjustable (add/remove buttons & alter content). Design The design will consist of a dual-tab system. On the left, the subjects will be displayed, and on top, the levels will be displayed. It should be visually obvious where the user is, as either a subject tab, level tab, or both should be active based on the location. Nav If the user has clicked on a subject, then clicking on the level will take them to the page about that subject/level combination and vice versa. Once both a subject and level have been clicked, then clicking a different subject should show that subject at the same level. Changing levels should work similarly. If the user clicks a subject or level that is already active, the appropriate “overview” page should appear. Platform The project should work seamlessly within our existing WordPress site, http://anconaschool.org. Ideally, content should be updated within Wordpress much like any other page. Our WP site is already responsive, but the design will have to be flexible enough to work on a phone screen. Each page will need to have a unique slug/URL so that it can be linked to. The regular nav & other features should show up just as they do throughout the site. Content The content is mostly already created, and is stored in a database being used by an earlier version of the tool created in Ruby on Rails. The content will need to be loaded into the WordPress version. Landing Page A landing page with brief instructions should be visible when a user first gets to the curriculum guide. There should be a way to “go back to start” that would jump the user back to the landing page and de-select any subject/level that had been selected.
