find if an option is available in PHP

one of my clients has a chat software that I am assuming runs on PHP. he said this - I need private chat to be set up(although i was told this is already there)! - Which means the option has been in built where in users can have a one to one chat with each other, but I am unable to find where it is - you spend a hour and tell me if the option is there and can be enabled and i will pay what you quote type iwillfindchatphp if you have read and understood the scope of work involved.
