I have an existing php script that appears to be pretty well written (I'm not a coder, but code looks pretty and mostly documented ok).
The purpose of the script is to populate my OSCommerce / CRELoaded store using a product file given by my supplier.
The script will currently accept a file as input through a web form. ? Once uploaded, the script will parse the file and do two things:
1. ? Insert the appropriate product information (productID, description, etc) into the database.
2. ? Fetch the images (small, medium and large) from the suppliers FTP site and insert the correct URL location of the local image files into the database for the appropriate product.
Here is what the script lacks:
1. ? Better error handling. ? When an image is not found or a row in the input file is malformed or invalid, the script just pretty much eats is and spits out junk. ? I just want some better overall error handling.
2. ? Timeout Issue - Often when processing a large input file, the HTTP session times out ? (at least this is what I speculate). ? The script will churn and churn and churn with nothing printed to the screen. ? Eventually I'll get a "Page Can Not be Displayed" type message in my browser. ? But refreshing the actual web store, the script is actually still running, but the HTTP session has timed out.
3. ? There are some fields that I want to insert into the database that aren't in the product (input) file. ? For example, "data available" is not part of the input file, but I would like to insert today's date (or a hard coded date) when inserting records. ? There are a handful of other fields that need to be hard coded as well, such a "quantity available" or "tax class" or something. ? I would say there are maybe 5 of these kinds of variables.
I think that's pretty much it.
Looking forward to working with you on this. ? I think it will be a pretty easy, straightforward project for the right coder.
Thanks!
Chris
## Deliverables
I really think this is a pretty easy job and shouldn't take too long.
I'm not a programmer, but am pretty technically competent, so I can assist quickly with any needed access or information like sql username, connection strings, or server details.
I am attaching the original php script for your review. ? This is the file that I want to enhance.
Thanks!
