Goal: Overlay data from website's database onto Yahoo! Map.
This is how the site looks now…
(image in PDF)
There are red flags on the map showing where ******s are located. However, these values have been manually typed into the HTML in order to show up on the map. These flags are not coming from records in the PgSQL database.
This project is to pass XML (or however is best) to the Yahoo! Map to show any records in the database that match the current view on the map. So, if the map is showing Hot Springs, Arkansas… all records from the database that have an address in Hot Springs, Arkansas should show up on the map.
If the website visitor moves their view of the map, either by moving the map with the mouse or selecting a different zoom level, or by typing in a different city and state, then the Yahoo! Map should show any ****** in the database for that new view. Eventually there will thousands of records, so the coding must be done well enough to not slow down the website performance.
After this project is complete, there will be a new project continuing where this one stops. (The next project will include adding more functionality to the flags. When someone clicks on the flag, they should have access to all information in the database for that ******. That will be in the next project.)
Thanks!
