I have a Dual Xeon 3.2 Ghz Linux Server running Ensim Pro 4.1.0-8.rhel.4ES. I have about 20 sites on the server right now and plan to add more in the near future. I have been having a huge problem with spam. I have tried to remove the spammers, and even deleted a few sites that were running php scripts that the spammers were exploiting. So far, they still seem to get in and it's driving my crazy. I would like to set up a way to intercept the spam before it hits my server, perhaps a mail gateway in front of my server. The issue is not just the spam, but the problems it causes due to bounces, rejections, etc. If anyone has experience with killing spam on a server, and preventing new spam, please get in touch with me. Welcome to the Server Admin club :) While it won't ever go away, I do have a bag of tricks that helped to block TENS of THOUSANDS of spams a DAY on my servers. Maybe these tricks and system tweaks will help you to cut it down to a manageable level and stop your server from being part of the spam problem (If you aren't blocking them, then you're letting them through).
