Hello,
I want an extension and a website with XUL and XPCOM. The extension itself should work like the Avant Browser: [login to view URL]
I've ran into a Firefox extension Piro Sakura has developed, called FoxSplitter. It splits the browser window into subbrowsers, which are NOT iframes, so they are fully operable with all sites.
Here's a screenshot. [login to view URL]
Fox Splitter documentation: [login to view URL]
Fox Splitter source: [login to view URL]
Now, let me explain my project: I want a Firefox Extension and a website.
1- The extension: The extension is similar to FoxSplitter, it shows multiple websites.
However, it should not split the view, but rather put the subbrowsers in movable, draggable, resizable windows within the browser.
To make you understand how the subwindows should look, I created a demo with JavaScript windows showing iframes. Demo url: [login to view URL]
As I said, I am not looking for a solution with iframes, I am looking for subbrowsers that can show the actual websites.
I think it is possible with XPCOM - JavaScript. (Javascript windows that can show Piro's subbrowsers, for example). I believe there are other ways, but I think XUL - XPCOM - JS is the one.
2- The Website: A website that users log-in and see their bookmarks in subbrowser windows. Of course, the site will only be reachable from Firefox browser with "the extension" installed.
The positions, sizes, URLs of the subwindows will be saved on to database, so when the user logs in, he/she will get the exact same screen saved on another computer.
A user that is logged in should see something like this: [login to view URL]
I am willing to finish and pay. Any information about the imposibility is also appreciated.
Thanks.
