Right now i am working on the similar kind of project as a full time employee and we are using asp.net front end application which is making ajax call to the backend. In backend we are using spring framework integrating with rest webservices and we are using jdbc in our dao layer to store and retrieve data from mysql database. For this project, we could use spring mvc with rest web services. In the UI when the user uploads the image, an ajax call can be made to go the corresponding rest controller class as POST request by sending the image as body in model object. In Rest class, we could make an call to the DAO class which can use the jdbc to store the given image in to database.
