As a linguist (I studied English literature and German at university and have lived abroad), I believe I have an advantage in the area of transcription. Having learned a second language myself, I can appreciate what it is people, whose grasp of English isn't necessarily brilliant, are trying to say. I have the skill of extrapolating inside a context and understanding meaning. I appreciate this job doesn't involve speakers whose first language isn't English, but as a Brit myself, I know that regional accents can be thick and sometimes difficult to understand! I'm also a quick typist and have both a natural and academically honed sense of attention to detail. When I go for something, I get it right!
