hi mark harrington here, australian citizen living in thailand, long story, anyway your project is an interesting one and one that i have experience in, i have written memoirs for both sides of my grandparents in the past 10 years, on my mother's side, my grandmother had cancer in the 1990s and her support group suggested making a video to capture a timeline of her life, that was a professional video group and they charged $1500aud in the 1990s, anyway, the video became a secret, and i only discovered it another 10 years after that, in short, there were some details in the video about an inheritance and a family farm and i think my grandfather who later re-married twice (and probably his new wives) wanted to keep secret, anyway, he finally gave me a copy of the video, a couple of years before he died, and i transcribed the video, i turned it into a book (it was basically just a transcription of the video), anyway, i got him a copy of the book and after reading it he said it was his wish that it wasn't to be published, the set of events led me to create something similar with my father's parents, in short, i set up a morning tea and we spoke about how the book would be divided, main sections, it was basically their parents history, children, siblings, courting, marriage, the family farm, their kids, their grandkids, a few funny stories a few tragedies (such as my father dying young and so on), then the next step was to do the recording, it was done in a loungeroom...
