Hi there. I'm trying to get a custom php website (Smarty Template style) to work locally. We set the siteroot in a config file and have a which sets the db info. I can usually copy and transfer this site to a new host and set it up on a new domain in 5 minutes, but I cannot figure out how to get it to work locally. We have controllers, models, views folder, plus a file which helps assign controllers to certain front-end pages. I've been trying to install it locally using XAMPP, so I can simply use the site using Chrome, but I can't get it to work. I need to figure this out asap. Thanks!

I have a custom php website - similar to Smarty Templates and CodeIgniter - I can usually install it on other hosts in literally 5 minutes, but I want to install it locally on a LapTop (that I only have remote access to via AnyDesk), so that it can be accessed through the Chrome Browser like normal. The website is currently on a Linux VPS with WHM and CPanel and we can download the .sql file and a zip of the main folder pretty quickly directly to the Laptop (I'm actually about to start working on that part now). I need help setting it up locally, so it can all be accessed just like it was from the web. About how long will this take because I have to run a few errands soon? Thanks!
