Me concernant

Discovering, analyzing, and integrating pharmacology applications requires a breadth of knowledge, acumen, technical skills, and creativity. I have excelled in academics at every step of my school and college life. After completing 10th grade with 91% aggregate and 12th grade with 96% in Science, my interest in life sciences persuaded me to choose a career in Medicine and admission to to B. J. Medical College, Pune, one of the premier institutes for medical education in India. Medical education helped me to appreciate basic health sciences and develop an interest in knowing more about them. I achieved SECOND RANK among hostel students at my Second MBBS exam among all the successful candidates in the college. Thus my genuine interest, an excellent faculty in the basic sciences and the good laboratory facilities endowed me with a first hand experience and knowledge of research field. With my MSc in Pharmacology (Glasgow Caledonian University, Glasgow, United Kingdom), I came inch closer to my goal of Research Scientist. I was awarded with "Best Overall Performance" in the course. My research area was receptor pharmacology using isolated organ bath technique. The world of Pharmacology will be further explored during my MD (Pharmacology) course. Although I am open to work in any area, I am particularly interested in Diabetes Mellitus. Many indigenous drugs have been claimed to be useful in Diabetes Mellitus, but very few have been detailed with the mechanism of hypoglycemic action. I wish to find out that in my dissertation topic. This will involve various techniques in experimental pharmacology as well as use of ELISA. I have been involved in research projects. I presented a poster at Neuropsychopharmacology2013 conference and was awarded the FIRST PRIZE. At Indian Pharmacological Society 45th conference, a poster presented was selected in first 30 at national level. During my undergraduate studies at B. J. Medical College, I was involved in various extra-curricular activities. The most remarkable learning experience was my appointment as the Assistant General Secretary of Hostel Managing Committee. This field has enormous potential for research and application in future. I feel that it is in this field that I can best combine my training, knowledge, and interests to make original contributions. My long-term goal in life is to take up a research-oriented post in either academia or research laboratories.
