Seasoned public relations I am a seasoned public relations professional with a great desire to continue to further develop writing and media relations experience through a diversity of freelance opportunities, addressing various subject matters and industries.
My background is mainly in public relations, marketing, and consumer and media communications. I've worked as a communications and media relations representative for two New York City agencies, and also worked for a private PR firm with clients in nonprofit, consumer and lifestyle, literary writing, public policy and real estate, to name a few.
In addition to creating the media plan and writing the editorial content on behalf of major City events, including Christo and Jean-Claude's "The Gates," Olafur Elliason's "New York City Waterfall's," launch of the Floating Pool Lady, and the 125th Anniversary of the Brooklyn Bridge, to name only a few. I have significant experience in creating and executing media relations plans in support of marketing initiatives and campaigns for the various organizations for which I've been employed. For my current employer, NYC & Company, New York City's official marketing and tourism organization, I oversaw the media relations component of the very popular tourism appreciation campaign, Just Ask the Local. Released in three phases, Just Ask the Locals features insider tips for visitors to NYC from more than 40 celebrities and local experts, including Kevin Bacon, Robert DeNiro, and Cynthia Nixon. The global campaign earned thousands of media hits throughout the world and continues to gain significant attention among consumers and media alike. Other integrated marketing initiatives I have worked on include Summer and Winter Restaurant Week, Harlem for the Holidays, New York City’s Go Local campaign, and Summer in the City.
My current position has also required me to oversee the communications strategies for the launch of the company's global outposts, including Australia and India in 2008, and manage the continued support of media relations efforts conducted in those markets. This experience in international media relation has been tremendously beneficial in understanding the interests and cultural prerequisites of the people in these countries.
