Study on Pharmacovigilance to monitor safety of Ani-Tuberculosi medicines in Sri Lanka
International Conference on Public Health Innovations.
With implementation of DOTS strategy and Fixed dose Combination drugs it was noted an increased death rate. Hence a Cohort of all the TB patients in Sri Lanka was formulated to monitor the Adverse Drug Reactions of anti-TB drugs.
It was revealed that most of the patients die within the Intensive phase. Study is still on going as a Cochrane study.
KAP of Primary care concepts among the Doctors practicing in rural primary care institutions.

I attempted to evaluate the Knowledge Attitude and Practice of Fundamental Family Medicine Concepts among the doctors who practice in primary care settings in rural Sri Lanka.
It was found that most of the doctors does not have even the basic idea of Family Medicine Concepts. especially the focus on preventive interventions on the attending patients were poor.w
Knowledge Attitude, Practice on nutrition among pregnant women and labeled in hematology anemic .

This study attempted to evaluate KAP on nutritional concepts and diet among pregnant women who were hematologically labelled as anemic. The study population was pregnant mothers who attended an Ante Natal Clinic in a District General Hospital.
It was found that KAP on diet and knowledge on nutritional concepts were poor among the mothers who were labelled as anemic in the lab work.
Quality of life of women in reproductive age group among re-settled community in Vanni.

The researcher evaluated the health status, mental status and quality of life of women in reproductive age group among those attended Pos-War Antenatal clinics and welfare programs.
Majority of women were anemic. The contraceptive prevalence was very low among the target population. Nearly all of women had some form of psychological problems.
Study on pattern & contributory factors for TB among convicted prisoners in a prison, Sri Lanka.

Attempted to determine the prevalence of sputum smear positive TB among convicted prisoners in a major
prison and to identify contributory factors for sputum smear positive TB among prisoners.
Prevalence of TB in prison is exorbitantly high when compared with the prevalence among
general population (101 per 100,000 population). Inmates with low BMI should receive more
attention in order to identify TB patients in prison environment.

care setting for the last 30 years, evaluate the direction of the epidemiological transition in rural Sri
Lanka, and assess its compatibility with the standard global models for epidemiological transition.
The rural population is undergoing the epidemiological transition from an infective and
deficiency disease towards a non-communicable disease with a steady demographic transition.
