Basketball team logo - "5ync"

My design need is a basketball team logo. The team name is Sync. For our logo, we want the "S" to be a "5" (for 5 players in sync). Attached is the idea we have. We'd like for all 4 characters to connect, but the "5" and "y" are twice as tall as "nc" resulting in the left side of the logo appearing "heavy." Perhaps someone can design it with a smaller "5" (size of a lower case "s"). We also would a second design with "5ync" surrounded by a basketball (for printing tee-shirts, etc.)
