Excel Formula for Earliest Expiry Date

I am in need of a basic Excel formula that can help in filtering the first (earliest) expiry date from a list of many expiration dates. Here are the specific details:
- Format for the dates needs to be in DD-MM-YYYY.
- The original Excel file is continuously being updated with material numbers and multiple expiry dates. I need a tool or formula that can sort out and obtain the first (earliest) expiry date from these lists.
- Since the complexity of the requested formula or tool is Basic, an understanding of and experience with the Basic Excel functions is a requirement.
- Fluency in Excel and a knack for creating formulas that can simplify my work process are must-haves.
- Knowledge of or past experience in Material Management or Supply Chain would be a plus as it may lend some understanding to the task at hand.
