Edit an already made interactive story game for adding features.

I have the source code.
You have to add these features:
1) Saving- Remember the user so if they come back after closing the browser, they remember your progress. They can start off where they let off.
2) Add an input bar: So when you send a text, you have an input box before sending it. (I'll add an image so you know what I mean). Add that to the game right on top of the choices you can make. So before the text is uploaded onto the real conversation, there is an input box where the text is played by a javascript typing animation. Sorta like texting. If you played 'Emily is away', you'd know what I mean.
