In MN, USA; been in website business w/same software company for 10 years now. I'm the webmaster and still manage our SEO & create mid-level, technical B2B software articles and posts; avg SERP competition in our market but big $ sales. I've got new position at work, but I want to use my SEO/planning/writing skills more; love on-site SEO planning/work. My goal: to help small- and medium-size companies w/ their on-site SEO/content needs. I've always stressed on-page SEO and great content. In last year, my SERPs are up and moving up fast. My cost: not cheap & research: costs vary. Quality, long-term value It's worth it! My theory: great content for target audience! Needs to be cohesive, never cumbersome. It's why our content always ranks well at Google, regardless of current algorithm used. We are winning with 5+ year old articles! Why Google changes are working: *Bots acting more human with each change *People prefer great, balanced content *Now, bots ID quality work, reward it!

Most has been informal, either paid or volunteer work. I've also provided SEO advice/help/consultant services. For instance, I volunteered to help the local high school's marching band with their website. It needed to be modernized so that it could be maintained in future. This was quite a project: site was on Drupal and was my first time using it, but they were happy with result. Also, I've built/modified many websites and helped with content for mix of folks, both paid and unpaid.

Main job was creating websites based on market research to identify opportunities within industries that had lower-than-expected competition online. My tasks morphed over the years, from coordinating efforts at beginning to leading a team while handling coding and content. I was doing SEO work from the start, supplementing my work with contractors when needed. I started writing half of each site’s content. After spending countless hours rewriting articles we paid for, I wrote a lot more.
