Mathematics: PDE modeling of melting and freezing processes

The using of phase change materials (PCM) can reduce or prevent room overheating or over-cooling in buildings. To estimate effect of applying PCM in a wall construction we need to solve the well known Stefan Problems as models of basic phase-change processes. That is a system of partial derivative equations for heat transfer via the wall with the PCM slab. The solutions presented as time-space temperature distributions allow optimize the wall construction for different weather conditions.
