About Me
A Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, yet staunchly republican and proudly anti-art, Timothy received his education from Kings College, University of London where he was handed a distinction in Cinema Cultures. Always in the wrong place at the right time, he has gained extensive experience as an artist, journalist, curator, and academic. Fleeing London for Lahore to bask in the relentless Punjabi black humour, he found the same caustic conservatism yet only more sultry. So, amid the more audible booms he searched out cultural boomlets, wrote about them and made films about them. Having recently moved on to Istanbul, he covered the Gezi Park protests and now writes regular features on the collecting, preservation, access to, and archives of contemporary art for Art Collector Mag, a print publication serving Central European patrons. Having first taught at the unsuspecting Faculty of Rights at the University of Paris Descartes and coordinated the establishment of the London College of Contemporary Arts, Timothy has now gone it alone and has most recently created curricula for the Paris College of Art. He likes to write on musical subcultures of the European interwar period, transnational cinema, nation and territory, and higher education in the cultural sphere. Continuing as a freelance journalist and independent consultant offering communications, academic development, copywriting, research and evaluation services to a number of industries – namely arts publications and private higher education providers. Timothy is the co-founder of the London-based magazine and peer reviewed journal Flee Immediately that explores emerging technologies, art and writing in critical and contextual ways.
