Official Star Trek Fan Club Of The UK - Toy Review
While working for the Official Star Trek Fan Club, I was assigned to provide a product review of a range of action figures based on the Star Trek Movie series. The review had to conform to house style guidelines including specific restrictions on character naming and product references. Deadlines for this - and all the work I did for the Official Star Trek Club - were extremely tight as the work not only had to be checked by my Editor, but also needed to be submitted to Paramount Studios for approval as the then owner of the Star Trek brand.
Me concernant
Born in West Bromwich on 4th July 1971. I moved to the centre of Lichfield, Staffordshire in November 2008 prior to getting married but before then I spent my whole life living in Great Barr, Birmingham. I have been writing both professionally and on a published amateur level since 1989 when I started running science fiction fan clubs and publishing fanzines through a non-profit making science fiction organisation, Infinite Frontiers, which I founded in August 1989. The organisation - still running today - specialised in all aspects of science fiction (although it's origins started with a club dedicated to Doctor Who) and since its formation ran a range of science fiction clubs, conventions, sports clubs and amateur publications both digitally and in print. As founder I was involved in all aspects of the organisation including acting as its lead writer, website design and maintenance, photographer, and managing all of the organisations PR as well as event management and planning. publicist. Over the years, the work with Infinite Frontiers expanded into computer magazines and shareware software which directly lead to my first professional writing break in 1994 for a computer magazine... This break came about following the reputation I had made for myself with the software I had been developing and this lead to a one-off commentary article being commissioned for a computer magazine. I quickly became one of their regular freelance team. At the same time, I started working on the Official Star Trek Fan Club Of The UK writing a series of regular columns before the club's untimely demise. At that point, as a Star Trek fan, I felt that I had already achieved a lifelong dream to have had the chance to work on the series in some capacity. Since then, I have been writing for a wide range of clients covering various topics ranging from computing, web design, video games, sport, health, disability issues, science fiction, comic books, lifestyles, technology, product reviews, and am able to turn my hand to almost any subject required of me. In my spare time, I am the committee head for Auto Assembly - a non-profit making Transformers convention which is recognised as being the largest of its kind in Europe. As well as managing the team running this, I am the website designer and oversee all aspects of the content of the site and the printed publications the convention produces. Separately from this, I have designed websites for a number of other organisations and individual clients over the years ranging from events to retail and personal sites and while I left my "day job" in 2010 due to health reasons and have been concentrating more on my event management activities, I have still been writing and designing websites continually during this time. In addition to writing, for my sins I have also worked in Local Government, computer software retail, and spent time as a volunteer in a local charity book store in Lichfield, but writing is my main passion. Away from writing and website design, I am an avid science fiction fan, and I am interested in all aspects of computing and video games. I have quite varied tastes in music, am a keen lover of wildlife, and enjoy watching wrestling and basketball and I love to cook. Mainly though, I enjoy spending as much time as possible with my wife Trish and our daughter Hannah as well as our two dogs.
