Static pressure contours inside a Cross Flow Turbine

This image shows Static Pressure Evolution (in time) inside a Cross Flow Turbine (CFT), as numerically obtained using the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) suite ANSYS CFX v.13. Computations were carried out in transient state regime. This result forms part of an investigation carried out in the Mechanical Energy Conversion Laboratory of the Simn Bolvar University, Venezuela. The research paper was published in the ASME-IGTI, 2012 Turbine Technical Conference and Exposition (GT2012). Full title: "Numerical Investigation of a Banki Turbine in Unsteady Regime" Remarkable results of this investigation: - Good agreement with experimental results. - CFT Degree or Reaction, Hydraulic Efficiency and Stages determination. - Comparison of turbulence models SST and k-e (kappa-epsilon) in term of results and computational costs. - Comparison of steady state results versus transient state results.
