Private commission to commemorate an adoption
The illustration was commissioned as a gift for a couple adopting a child from Africa. The concept depicts the baby bring brought from Africa to the couple by the stork in the same way a stork can be used in imagery on greetings cards for 'new baby'. The style used was to try to give a feel of African tribal patterns, the baby's heritage as well as indicating the adoptive parents background too.
Me concernant
Provide me with words and I'll visualise them! The words can be editorial text for books or magazines, or may be to describe someone special, or a specific event. I'm able to create imagery in a traditional format using sketch book, pencil and painting as well as digitally. I like to work with photographic, hand drawn, painted images and textures then collage them together to create an intricate, textured digital illustration. Working digitally seems to be the most popular way of image making with my clients as it provides the opportunity to amend the images more quickly to get it just right.
