Vibration damper for wind turbine blades
by
Onno81
This damper is built inside the tip of a wind turbine blade and is able to dampen the vibrations that occur when the blade passes the tower. It consists of three copper discs that swing with the eigen-frequency of the blades. The discs are slowed down by an array of magnets which cause eddy currents in the discs, hence dampening the vibrations.
