Outline of Project: Conceive, design and execute a project to provide an RF and Magnetic Shielded MRI suite within a newly built freestanding structure. Due to the installation of a high strength (10 Tesla) magnet the magnetic shielded should be designed to fully contain field strengths of 10 Gauss and above. New disciplines employed: Research and specification of high magnetic permeability steel with a suitable saturation curve Design of steel and timber support structure to accept seven tonnes of 0.6mm thk. silicon steel sheets Design and detailed interlocking layout for each layer of steel sheet to meet performance criteria Detailing for factory punching of silicon steel sheets for fitting and to allow penetrations required for MRI magnet Conception, Design, Testing and Installation of revolutionary electrically isolated magnet anchoring system.
