Worked at this Research Centre as a Computer Technologist/Engineer; § In charge of all computers in the Centre; § Trouble shooting, maintain and repair failed computer hardware; § Maintain up to date inventory of computer hardware; § Carrying out preventive maintenance on all ICIPE computer hardware; § Coordinate Hardware and Software purchases by keeping updated with new developments in the Computer Market; § Responsible for ordering of necessary computer spares; § Troubleshooting and locating user errors by checking hardware backup log in main computer, and as alerted by telephone. Liaising with Computer Software Specialist and Electronics Engineer when combined problems arise. Manning the helpdesk as required, rerouting questions and solving simple hardware related queries by telephone; § Answering queries related to hardware and provide information manuals as requested; § Installation of all new computer equipment and commissioning; § Updating the Centers’ Computers and computer users with new technology, upgrading the LINUX OS, MAC OS, WINDOWS 95/98/NT and DOS and updating the virus guards and anti-virus measures; § Giving lectures on Computer Hardware, safe guards of power failures, for MACs and PCs plus anti-virus counter measures. § Installation and maintenance of Remote Weather Monitoring Stations in various parts of the country for ICIPE.
