This song was inspired by the ice storm that hit Toronto in February of 2014. During production I made use of resonance filters, reverberation and various other FX to create a cold, distant atmosphere in the background. I used the combination of a Piano and a modulated sample to create an elegant opening and then introduced a classical soloist's voice and a several layered strings to transition to the faster paced percussive portion of the song. I utilized high freq percussion to reinforce the sense of chilliness and coupled this element with a multi-layered FM synth pad to keep things fresh all the way to the track's conclusion.
