Professional Profileea I grew up in a very multi-cultural environment and have been speaking both English and Spanish my whole life. Having grown up in a predominantly Latin culture, I have been using my language skills since I was about 16, teaching, translating and interpreting. My father is a certified teacher so I began teaching under his tutelage and later began acquiring certification of my own. I’ve worked on translations for many multinational companies in the area, as well as both translating and writing for a few local magazines. I am at present, working on the ultimate Mexican certification from the government, although it’s mostly useful for translating legal documentation. I’ve been called upon to work as an interpreter for high profile clients, from time to time. Most recently I was hired for the World Forum on Migration and Development (INAMI), to orient the delegates and translate for them when needed. Experience Translator/Interpreter/Teacher (2001 – Present) I have mostly worked in a freelance capacity Some Translation Jobs • Employee Manuals -Spanish to English – English to Spanish • Corporate Policy Manuals -English to Spanish • C.V’s and cover letters -Spanish to English • SPA treatment procedures -Spanish to English • Magazine articles English to Spanish – Spanish to English • Policies (Various Areas) -English to Spanish – Spanish to English • Security & Safety Manuals -Spanish to English – English to Spanish • Letters, E-mails, & Presentations -Spanish to English – English to Spanish • Websites -English to Spanish – Spanish to English • Transcripts -English to Spanish – Spanish to English IBSolutions Partner/Coordinator/Teacher (2008 – Present) I’m mainly responsible for coordinating classes and projects, as well as evaluating customer satisfaction. I also apply periodic tests and teach some classes. SexAppeal Magazine Translator/Proofreader (2009 –) This magazine is owned by IBSolutions and while at the moment it is currently on hold, it was in full operation for 2 years. My responsibilities were writing , proofreading, editing and compiling content as junior editor as well as translating content from overseas contributors. I was also involved in organizing promotional events for the magazine. Eclectica Magazine Translator/Proofreader (2008 – 2009) This was a new local magazine geared toward young people with a decidedly punk-rock vibe. My responsibilities included translating articles as well as proofreading and editing. I also conducted some interviews. Due to financing problems the magazine shut down in 2009. Berlitz Teacher (2006 – 2007) Due to my migratory status in Mexico I was only able to work with Berlitz on a part-time basis although I did complete their training course.
