I began using the IBM S/38 in 1983 and developed the applications required for an LTL trucking company: Freight Billings, Dispatch, Claims, Vehicle Maintenance, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Payroll. All programming was done in RPGIII and CL. During this time we upgraded to an AS/400. In 1995 I joined an AS/400 value added reseller that sold and supported the Daly & Wolcott (now Infor) Application Plus wholesale distribution application. I was the lead on the installation of RCL’s first A+ user. Some of RCL’s clients were running applications in the S/36 environment, and I was able to become familiar with RPGII, OCL and procedures. In 2001 I became an independent consultant, providing remote support, first from Tennessee and now from North Carolina, to clients in Montana, Wyoming and Nevada with applications like transportation, wholesale distribution and lumber sales..
