A spin off of Intel, DevelopOnline.com helped embedded platform developers cut traditional development times by as much as 70 percent. It did this by providing remote online access to a myriad of embedded computing devices as well as services to bring prototype designs to market. Embedded developers could write their code, test it live on remote machines, and then move into production with the help of the service. They used the innovative Webridge object-oriented web portal platform to provide the public interface for the service. Unfortunately, DevelopOnline.com was a casualty of the original dot-com bubble. In addition to consulting on all things Webridge related, I was the primary developer of a COM based solution to integrate the Webridge platform and the customized business logic hosting the developer platforms with the Novell Directory Services and Microsoft Active Directory for user account and network file sharing security.

Routeware automates route planning, tracking, and management for the waste management industry by using in-truck "smart truck" solutions and innovative back-office management software. Their objective is to fully automate the entire workflow, replacing paper-based scheduling, dispatching, and traditional methods with easy-to-use electronic tools in the office and in the truck. I was the lead architect and developer of the original Microsoft SQL Server based BackOffice software solution which facilitated route planning, tracking, and billing information, as well as integration with other commonly used waste management software.

There were apps sold in various independent third-party online App stores long before any of the carriers or big tech companies had then their own. It was through those channels that I marketed and distributed PocketPC Tip Calculator, which later became Windows Mobile Tip Calculator. Windows Mobile Tip Calculator was an app I designed, built, marketed, and supported to facilitate easily calculating the gratuity for any type of service that you would tip on, such as haircuts, dining, hotels, taxis, etc. The app would provide common suggested rates, which could be modified based on the rating you gave your service from 1-5 stars. The app would calculate the appropriate gratuity according to your preferences. The concept was simple - an online service (SaaS, before it was called "SaaS") that facilitated tracking, reporting, and collecting on reimbursable expenses. Users would use their mobile phone (this is before the iPhone, and the "Smart Phones" we know today) to enter expenses as they happened, and the system would automatically generate and submit the expense reports they needed. I designed, developed and maintained all aspects of the system and marketed the service through various mobile marketplaces.

There are several VOIP services and mobile carriers that will send you e-mail notifications when you receive a voicemail message; however, those systems usually don't know about your contacts or any other identifying information. Visual Voicemail for Microsoft Outlook is an add-in I designed, built, marketed, and supported that turned any e-mail voicemail notification into an informative Visual Voicemail message, with information about the caller based on the user's Outlook Contacts. It would processes voicemail messages from Vonage, Comcast Digital Voice, YouMail, and many other voicemail systems of the day, to provide key information about the caller in a visual way.

NW Auto Parts Distribution was a shipping company specializing in the distribution of automobile parts around the pacific northwest. I was contracted to design and build a centralized system for automating the creation of mailing labels by customers, and then tracking packages through each point in the entire chain of custody, from pickup through delivery. The system was designed and built to use standard off the shelf Android phones as the barcode scanners.
