Solving Business Problems
The time was when we had a problem with estimation of the project work. The estimation was done with IFPUG. It is a robust technique no doubt but the problem was rather with execution. Here we were dealing with a bad design and we had to unit test/integration test our code in the given timeline. The bad design had made it a nightmare as in one of our scenarios for unit testing one EJB component was calling around 250 other EJB components. This was unbelievable for us but true. I wrote an eclipse plugin to fetch all such dependencies for any given service of an EJB component and showcased it to the client. The client were happy and surprised at the same moment. They couldn't understand how the design went so bad but were charmed to see the tool that extracted these details for them. The tool has been posted here https://sourceforge.net/projects/ipathfinder/
