Wireless Sensor Network Scheduling
This project involved implementing a random deployment of wireless sensor nodes and a wireless sensor scheduling (sleep/wakeup cycles) algorithm based on Artificial Bee Colony Optimization. I built this simulator which randomly deploys nodes and then allows for visualizing the step-by-step advancement of the algorithm as the simulation proceeds, including calculation of the total area covered (in terms of grid covered), the number of nodes currently active/asleep, the time step, and the average coverage. The implementation was quite accurate and comprehensive and allowed for altering several parameters including the coverage range of each node, the percentage of active nodes, the duration of simulation. All in all, it provided signirficantly better coverage results than standard sensor scheduling algorithms along with an appealing GUI which allowed for visualization of the wakeup/sleep cycles of the sensors.
