Floating X-Wing prototype
This prototype was designed and built by myself and a team that I directed. It featured an X-Wing fighter floating in a "force field" at a Rebel repair base. An expensive ($1000) active electromagnetic system was used to suspend the X-wing model below the lifting coil. The model was also animated by me--it could close and open its wings, while extending and retracting its landing gear.
