About Me

I'm an award-winning author of science fiction, fantasy and non-fiction for both children and adults. I have a degree in journalism, and began my career as a reporter/photographer, and eventually news editor, for the weekly Weyburn Review. After five years as communications officer for the Saskatchewan Science Centre, I became a fulltime freelancer in 1993. I've written everything from magazine articles to advertising copy to video scripts to annual reports, and have edited numerous magazines and newsletters. I have written or co-written more than 40 books, ranging from computer books and children's non-fiction books to science fiction and fantasy for both adults and young adults, including Marseguro, winner of the 2009 Prix Aurora Award for best Canadian science fiction novel in English, and its sequel Terra Insegura, both published by DAW Books and recently republished in an omnibus edition entitled The Helix War. Under the pen name Lee Arthur Chane, I wrote the epic fantasy novel Magebane, also published by DAW, and under yet another pen name, E.C. Blake, I am currently working on a new fantasy series for DAW that begins with the novel [login to view URL] non-fiction covers topics as diverse as Andy Warhol, Johnny Cash, The Mutiny on the Bounty and Saskatchewan history. In addition to being an author, I recently completed a nine-month stint as writer in residence at the Regina Public Library. In addition to writing, I am a professional actor and singer.
