APARTMENT IN MANRESA
We aim to transform a unique sloped roof space into a livable home by exploiting different heights to locate the program. This is distribute bedrooms and storage spaces in the lower zones right behind facades, while higher areas such as living-dinning and kitchen setup the main central open space in the center of the apartment. To maintain a certain privacy of the quiet rooms, one 210cm centered wooden cupboard organizes the flow around keeping the wide space sensation of the core of the house by leaving the top of this central cabinet opened and giving visual continuity to the ceiling which allows to understand all as one unique volume. The kitchen wants to be a sort of integrated furniture in the opposite side of the apartment and keeps behind it service spaces and a bathroom.
About Me
In 2001 he started his Architecture degree at the Barcelona School of Architecture from Catalonia Polytechnic School (ETSAB-UPC). The first three years in university were a combination of studies with an early semiprofessional football career which meant a strong effort and discipline for striving in both activities. In 2005 the focus became exclusive on becoming an architect, starting with professional activities as an intern architect in Xavier Güell Architect Studio, where the development of high standard single and multi family housing programs meant an interesting first approach to deep detailing design processes and managing construction sites. In 2006 came the opportunity to study abroad for a whole year scholarship in Politecnico di Milano which meant learning not only a language and a new wonderful country but also about the richness of mixing with different cultures and meeting people from all around the world by sharing university courses or personal experiences. Undoubtedly a deep personal transformation with the reconsideration of some of the fundamental guidelines in life. Once back in Barcelona, he had different professional experiences as an intern architect before finishing the Architecture degree. In EMBT (Enric Miralles & Benedetta Tagliabue) studio he was able to understand the way important architecture brands develop their day-by-day activities and how they deal with huge architecture and urbanism designs such as the Spanish Pavilion for Shanghai World Expo 2010, which had a deep impact in society and a close relationship to politics as well. In Mora-Sanvisens arquitectes associats office, he had the opportunity of being involved in designing buildings and infrastructure for local governments which were an intermediate scale that allowed him to go deep in detail in interesting proposals such as the building for the Secondary School of Cadaques and the Sagrera Subway Station. Meanwhile and as part of personal interests, he developed with other colleagues an interesting start-up called Visitarq, which is a world collaborative architectural guide, giving people all the necessary info to visit the best architecture and heritage around the world. As an architect and since 2008, he decided to join Pastor & Associats, the family architecture office, as a designer and partner until now, which gives him the liberty to decide about design proposals, working processes and offers a wide interesting vision of how to manage a business. Along with daily routine, he likes to dedicate some time to write and talk about subjects related to architecture and technology having trimestral articles published in the local university of architecture magazine ‘revista diagonal’. Europe has been dealing with an important economical crisis that reduced the amount of work and ‘forced’ businesses to focus on possibilities abroad. In 2011 he started collaborating with the brazilian architecture studio Coletivo de Arquitetos, a great opportunity to keep on developing a high level in architectural and urban design, enriching personal background, and allowing Pastor & Associats to move on with international experience.
