Olympus Manual
The project was aimed to assess the current usability of Olympus D-700 compact camera, and redesign the camera with new defined user experience. Through desk research, online suyvey and a user study, several usability and user experience problems were defined, based on which we proposed usability and UX targets. After some design interations, the final concept, Olympus Manual was formed. It facilitates users to learn professional photography functions and terminology through a fun, carefree and efficient way. Meanwhile, the Autu function is remained to enable instant image capture. Prototype was built for the user testing for the redesign. A common remark from participants was that the camera provides more possibilities with fewer variables, and was likely to become people's "first camera" before using DSLRs.
